Remembering Julie Steiskal: 1978-2008..

Life is precious, life is sweet, like the wind beneath our feet…this is a line from one of my favorite songs and how true it is. On Wed. a fellow local photographer and friend (if you only met Julie once, you would have forever thought you were best friends) died while trying to save a teenager from a river they were washing their hair in while camping. The river was too strong for both of them…

Julie was a photographer, church counselor and so much more. Julie lived an amazing life, she lived every day for her savior Jesus, and he certainly is telling her right now “well done, good and faithful servant”. It is no surprise that Julie would give her life to save another.

Julie was always giving advice, the image below is some advice Julie had given local photographer Scott Bolster

As you can see, she was beautiful, happy and carefree. You can read about Julies tragic passing below
KSTP article

On Julie’s website she used one of her favorite quotes

“we need a renaissance of wonder.

we need to renew, in our hearts & in our souls,

the deathless dream, the eternal poetry,

the perennial sense that life is miracle & magic.

My thoughts and prayers are with her family. Tomorrows we will say goodbye to Julie..until we meet her again.

This just crushes me! I heard about the story, but didn’t know the close ties until I went to BluDomains website. I am local too and it is hard to hear a tragic story so close to home. It is good to know that she loved God and is resting peacefully in Heaven! One day we will get to enjoy that glory!

    Lisa,
What a beautiful remembrance of Julie. Thank you so much! and thank you to all of her photography friends – for their photos and the love and friendship they gave to our daughter, Julie. We miss her, but we know she is waiting for us in heaven.
Blessings from her mom and family
