Miranda | Minnesota High School Senior Photography

Meet Miranda. A Mahtomedia 2010 high school senior.  I had heard many things about this beautiful young girl from a friend of mine that taught her in elementary school, so I was excited to finally meet her in person and honored to capture her high school senior memories. She lived up to everything I had heard. She is beautiful, an amazingly talented dancer, smart, sweet and very well rounded.  The minute I lifted the camera, I knew she was going to have many many images to choose from….and that she does. Miranda, your full gallery is on its way, in the mean time..enjoy the sneak peek!

Mentoring Kim | Minneapolis Photography Teacher

Where have I been? Well, for those of you that are photographers or clients, you know that this is our busiest time of the year. We are SWAMPED.  What have we been doing you ask that allows us to neglect our much loved blog?  Well, photo session, Holiday card designs and Mentoring of course. I still love to teach!  Here is a recent interview with another mentoree.  We had a great time and Kim is going to Rock that Nikon she shoots.  She spent an entire day with me, all while being a month a way from giving birth to her second child. I have no doubt we are going to see awesome images coming from Kim.

I am from:  Shoreview MN

Find my work at:  kimandbryans.blogspot.com

My biggest accomplishment this week was:  getting things done off the “to-do” list before baby number 2 comes

In my camera bag is:  Nikon D90, Nikon 50mm f/1.4,  Tamron 17-55mm f/2.8,  Nikon 35mm f/1.8

My recent favorite image is:  Anything I take of my 11 month old.  I just love capturing all his priceless expressions.

Our last family vacation was:  Breezy Point Resort this past July

What I loved about my mentor session with Lisa :  What can I say what didn’t I love.  Lisa is amazing.  She is so amazing.  I admire her work.  Her level of photography is so much higher than mine but she still made me feel comfortable.  She started back at square one for me and made it simple and fun.  I have learned so much from her and can’t wait to continue to learn more from her.  Lisa is so busy but still takes the time out of her busy day to teach people like me.  Need I say more:)

In 5 years I see myself:  knowing a lot more about photography than I do now.  Taking wondering pictures of my little ones, family and friends.  I will still be working as a nurse part-time and spending the rest of my time running after our children and enjoying life.

Photography Mentoring – Gabriel & Carin | Twin Cities Photography Mentor

I love love LOVE the opportunity to share my experiences with other photographers through mentoring. I have received countless e-mails asking various questions about how I do things, so Lisa Slotsve Mentoring was born!

Gabriel & Carin are amazing. They were in the Minneapolis/St. Paul on some other business and spent the day with me on a few senior shoots, then we went over business processes and forms among other items.  They are going to big, so watch for them on the blog.  I am so blessed to know the Blacks and felt honored that they would consider spending a day with me to learn more about the ins and outs of photography business.

Here is a little interview with Gabriel and Carin:

We we come from: My husband Gabriel is from Williston, ND and Carin is from Bredasdorp, South Africa.

Our work can be found at: www.gabrielandcarin.com

Most days we just need: More hours in the day!

Our style is: Photo journalistic

Our biggest accomplishment this week was: Getting my greencard so we can go visit my family in England and South Africa.

What I loved about my mentor session with Lisa: Lisa is AMAZING and super talented. She is absolutely a great teacher. She is fun and clearly loves what she does. We learned more from her in one day than what we could have learned in a year. We loved every second of our session with her.

In our camera bag is: The 5D mark ii. {Lenses} Canon 24-70mm L series, Canon 16-35mm L series, Canon 70-200mm L series, Canon extensions tube ef 12 ii, two Canon speedlight 580xii flashes.

Our recent favorite image is: We worked with a wonderful couple, Loren and Ashley and this shot of the groom flying away with a balloon and holding his brides hand was our fav!

Our last family vacation was: A trip to Hawaii where we spent most days laying on the beach or jumping of a waterfall.

A site where we find inspiration (non photography): www.oncewed.com

In 5 years we see ourselves: Traveling the world, having a family and continuing in growing to be better at what we do.

Thank you again!  Good luck and keep in touch.

Pacifier Fall Holiday Mini Sessions | Minneapolis Children’s Photography

October09pacifier mini sessions

What your home can look like with custom photography!

I LOVE when I go back to clients’ homes for sessions each year. It is so rewarding to see my work on the walls and how everyone is enjoying those special “captured” moments. This particular client has portraits everywhere, and she has done and AWESOME job displaying them (she just ordered 4 more canvases from her recent session so I can’t wait to see them). I love to work with clients on how, where and what size to use in their homes. This particular space is a large catwalk that overlooks the main level and out onto the lake. So….I was able to convince her to get a canvas that is nearly 6 FEET TALL..and it looks WONDERFUL!  If you have images of how you have used Lisa Slotsve Photography in your home, send them over…you will most likely make the blog!
