Where have I been? Well, for those of you that are photographers or clients, you know that this is our busiest time of the year. We are SWAMPED. What have we been doing you ask that allows us to neglect our much loved blog? Well, photo session, Holiday card designs and Mentoring of course. I still love to teach! Here is a recent interview with another mentoree. We had a great time and Kim is going to Rock that Nikon she shoots. She spent an entire day with me, all while being a month a way from giving birth to her second child. I have no doubt we are going to see awesome images coming from Kim.

My biggest accomplishment this week was: getting things done off the “to-do” list before baby number 2 comes

My recent favorite image is: Anything I take of my 11 month old. I just love capturing all his priceless expressions.

What I loved about my mentor session with Lisa : What can I say what didn’t I love. Lisa is amazing. She is so amazing. I admire her work. Her level of photography is so much higher than mine but she still made me feel comfortable. She started back at square one for me and made it simple and fun. I have learned so much from her and can’t wait to continue to learn more from her. Lisa is so busy but still takes the time out of her busy day to teach people like me. Need I say more:)
In 5 years I see myself: knowing a lot more about photography than I do now. Taking wondering pictures of my little ones, family and friends. I will still be working as a nurse part-time and spending the rest of my time running after our children and enjoying life.

[gallery]One of the most cost effective (and might I say fun) ways to do a senior session is to split it. We have many seniors who split sessions with their best friends. This allows them to hang out together, have fun while we are creating these memories and the sessions are always a blast! Kelsey, wow have you grown up into a beautiful girl! I was so lucky to do portraits of Katy and her dog about 3 years ago, just to capture that special time. When she showed up at my studio last week I was so surprised to see what a young adult she has turned into. We had so much fun laughing, talking clothes, and hanging out (even though it was her homecoming day – thanks for spending part of it with me!) I can’t wait for you to see the rest of the pictures. I love it when I find out it is the first time a family is having professional pictures taken, It makes it that much more special. If you follow my blog you know I am a HUGE believer in documenting your families lives (we hire a photographer ourselves at least once a year – usually twice). So, when they come to me for the first time and it is the first time not only with me, but that they have ever experienced custom photography I am always excited for them to see the sneak peek and the images, and hopefully their expectations are met and exceeded. That is the case with these two little cuties. Mom just wanted them captured as they are. I LOVE that, create the memories you see everyday! Enjoy your sneak peek Tosun family. Alexandra is a big sister to new little brother Andrew and what a pair they make. They are just the most adorable siblings together. We had a wonderful time photographing the children together, alone and as a family. It is so much fun to get to work with families when there is a new addition involved, there is always so much joy at the session, and this was no exception. What a beautiful family! I just love when I have a senior session and the girls have no idea how beautiful and unique they are. Danielle was one of those girls that the moment I lifted the camera to my eye, I knew this was going to be fun. She was just SO PHOTOGENIC! We had a great on location session around Lino Lakes and even had the chance to photograph her with one of the dogs she works with. She has a great interest in animals and hopes to work with them someday, and she is off to a great start. Danielle, you did amazing and looked so beautiful! Felicia and her mom made a road trip up to Minneapolis for some UNIQUE.FRESH.FUN senior portraits and we definitely got that out of her session. She is smart (wants to be a doctor), active (plays tennis) and had a great sense of style. Enjoy your sneak peek Felicia, you look amazing!
I had the privilege of photographing Liesel for her senior portraits and what an honor when their family asked me out to do family fall portraits at their beautiful Lake Elmo home. I have to tell you, this is one amazing family. Their energy is addictive. They just have this rapport with each other that makes being around them a TON of fun. The first time I met them at their daughter’s ordering appt, I just loved being around them and this time was no different. Definitely the true definition of family.
