Life..Unscripted

Minneapolis Photographer, children’s lifestyle photography

One of my favorite things about being a lifestyle children’s photographer is that I get to capture children, unscripted. My favorite images are not the big perfect grins, but the ones that capture kids being themselves..in that perfect moment.

The way you remember them playing in their rain boots, the belly laughs and the way they hug each other so hard, it chokes the other. That is children’s photography. I had the complete honor of photographing these beautiful little girls at my Minneapolis Studio. What was so amazing – beyond the fact that they are well behaved, beautiful, lively and have an amazingly gifted mother – is that these two beautiful girls are the daughters of one of my childhood friends from my hometown of Williston, North Dakota (where you say? Exactly..it is pretty small). I have so many FUN memories of growing up with their mom. We had lost touch after college so what a blessing to be back in contact and to get to meet her children. Photographing them opened up so many memories – when I looked through the lens and saw their mom’s eyes looking back at me, I was taken back in time. It was a wonderful session and a wonderful honor. Thank you Erin for allowing me to capture them on film forever!

L. = LOVE

on location twin cities photographer, Twin Cities Newborn Photographer

Meet little L! This newborn photo session shot in their home in Minneapolis was complete LOVE. His mom works in art buying and just completely “gets” it so she (as well as baby L.) were just a dream to work with. I can not tell you what a perfect little guy L. was, and check out that AWESOME nursery. Thank you so much mom (and her thoughtful twin sister, who gave her the session as a gift, – I know, I know, for those of you that subscribe on the left to the blog, it is a twin connections again. I don’t think I have had a session in the last month where there weren’t twins involved one way or another)

Fades Away..

Minneapolis Photographer - band photography

Isn’t that a cool name for a band?  I had the opportunity to photograph album covers and website images for this up and coming Minneapolis band. We had a wonderful time and I can’t wait to see my art on their CD cover – especially when they win a grammy!  Check out their work on their temporary website at www.fadesaway.com

A Wonderful Family

minneapolis family photographer

I have said it before, and I will say it again…I have the best clients in the world. I am constantly amazed at the children and families I meet day to day as a children’s photographer, and there must be no better city than Minneapolis. These clients were no exception! This little guy was PERFECT the entire session, in fact, I could have photographed him (and his parents) all day. He had an wonderful spirit about him, and it is no doubt due to the fact that he has 2 of the most wonderful parents I have ever met! I can not wait to share with you a sneak peek from this session…so here it is…ENJOY! Thank you for a perfect morning J. family!

Final Senior of the 2008 Graduating Year

minnesota senior picture photographer

Meet beautiful Cara. My final 2008 high school senior picture for this year’s graduating class. This amazing young girl will be starting a new journey in a few short weeks when she graduates from high school. I had such a wonderful session with her and am thrilled with how her senior pictures turned out. Isn’t she GORGEOUS! Here’s your sneak peek! Thanks for the fun senior portrait session, the rest are on their way shortly.

I’d like to introduce you to one of my favorite families. The P. family. I have been photographing this Twin Cities family for quite some time now and every single session is more fun than the previous (I didn’t think it was possible, but it is!)

This last session was extra special because it was the session for their newborn baby son. Meet baby B. He is GORGEOUS and the perfect addition to his big sister A. who you will find all over my blog and website. Isn’t this just the sweetest picture of her adoring every inch of her new baby brother?

Little B. & A.’s dad loves golf (which is evident by the putting and chipping green in his backyard) and he actually had the vision for this shot, which I thought was genius!

Thank you for yet another AMAZING session. You know I love you P. Family!

On Vacation

Just wanted to post that I am on vacation until May 27th and the studio will be closed. I am celebrating 10 years of marriage to my amazing husband. We renewed our vows and I will be posting some pictures to share when we get back from vacation.  In the meantime, if you are looking to schedule an appointment, feel free to email me at lisa@lisaslotsvephotography.com or leave a message and I will get back to you asap upon my return. Make it an amazing day!

boys, boys, boys

Have I ever mentioned how much I love photographing boys? They are so free behind the camera, usually never self conscious and always their fun loving selfs. These two were no different, I loved this session because I captured these 2 just being them selves, they love the outdoors, they are outgoing, and “boy” are they FUN!

I was also lucky enough to make a new friend. Their mom is AMAZING (not to mention gorgeous – as you can see above)…and lucky for me I discovered she lives close by and even works out at my gym. It is always fun to meet new people that you know you will run into again! Not only is she wonderful but she is smart and talented. She just happens to be the brains behind an amazingly brilliant product for children called Momspit (which I happened to already own when she booked the session so I was feeling a little star struck that I was going to meet her). If you haven’t heard of or used this product, run..don’t walk to Pacifier and get yourselves some!

Here is the sneak peek from our very fun afternoon. Thanks boys! (also have to mention they are twins..as we all know I amn a twin streak! ;) thanks to all you moms of multiples out there!

Exciting New Mini Sessions Scheduled!

I am so excited to announce that I am the new exclusive children’s photographer for Kiddywampus (check them out at www.kiddywampus.com) If you have not shopped, played or signed up for a class at Kiddywampus, you will want to check out this amazing place for children. It truly is an “inspired place for kids”. In addition to offering amazing classes, toys and playspaces for children, Kiddwampus has the same believes that I do when it comes to giving and charity. In fact, it is their mission to give back all after-tax profits from kiddywampus to charities benefiting children. I can’t tell you how amazing the owner Amy is.

This last month my donations to charities included the new Chain of Lakes YMCA and the RAIIN Foundation, so to find another business that has a similar belief system when it comes to children and giving, in addition to being fun, unique and modern…well, I am over the moon!

So for those of you who have been calling and emailing about mini sessions, mark your calenders (better yet, call for your appointment because they are very limited). The event will take place on Friday June 13th 2008. You can make reservations by calling Kiddywampus at 952.926.787. The charity that has been chosen to benefit from this exciting day is Faiths Lodge, a place where parents and families facing the serious illness or death of a child can retreat to reflect on the past, renew strength for the present and build hope for the future. I am so excited and honored to be a part of this upcoming day of art and photography!

Looking forward to seeing you there!

Twice the fun..

Twice the fun is what you get with these beautiful twin babies. We had such an AMAZING session. I am completely in love with little E. and P! It is sessions like these that make me realize how completely blessed I am to be a photographer and capture the fleeting moments in childhood. I get to leave each session with new little friends that I can’t wait to see again. Their parents are just as wonderful, they had to wait a little longer than usual to view their gallery due to my recent vacation (which I will be blogging about soon).  I appreciate your patience and I cant wait for you to see the rest of this session!

Thank you so much for the fun afternoon!
